WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
This class is designed for people who have taken my collage workshops and want to continue exploring this medium. With two consecutive days we’ll be able to go further into layering collage materials, sanding the surface to reveal beautiful textures, and adding color with paint.
First, we will create some collage papers with bold marks, then we will assemble several
abstract paper collages on three wood panels using a layering process. Once the panels are dry, we will experiment with sanding techniques (dry and wet) to alter the surface and reveal textures. The final product will be your own abstract textured design.
For those who have not been in my classes before, some collage experience is beneficial. General knowledge of art is encouraged but not required as I will guide you and meet you wherever you are in your art practice. Because this event is limited to eight participants, it will allow for individual attention. You will also have the opportunity to connect with fellow artists, share ideas, and learn from one another in a supportive and inclusive atmosphere.
